Kevin Mahmalji is a community organizer, strategic consultant, and journalist based in Florence, Colorado. He is the founder and president of Two Rivers Consulting, which offers services such as strategic communications, digital marketing, public relations, government affairs, and community engagement.
Mahmalji is also the owner and managing editor of The Florence Reporter, an independent print newspaper in Fremont County, Colorado, which he launched in August 2022. He personally handles many aspects of the newspaper, including writing, editing, advertising sales, subscriptions, design, formatting, and distribution. The newspaper is committed to providing fair and unbiased reporting on local issues.
Before starting The Florence Reporter and Two Rivers Consulting, Mahmalji served as the director of engagement for a national nonprofit organization, where he advised over 160 affiliate organizations on strategic planning, citizen lobbying, fundraising, and ballot initiatives. His career also includes working as a political operative on statewide campaigns in Texas, Wisconsin, Iowa, Virginia, and Colorado, including presidential, senatorial, gubernatorial, and municipal campaigns. He moved to Colorado in 2009 to work on Michael Bennet's U.S. Senate campaign.
Mahmalji is deeply invested in his local community. He is the Vice President of the John C. Fremont Library District Board of Trustees, an active member of the Florence Rotary Club, and recently formed the Fremont County Animal Welfare Committee. His involvement in community organizing was significantly influenced by the passing of his sister from Crohn's disease, which fueled his desire for justice and to be a voice for the voiceless.
